Emerging - Digital Image, 2013

I see myself as an artist, educator, and advocate.  All of these identities are in a state of emerging and evolving. To create an analogy to show this, I thought of how an object looks as it surfaces from below the water. At first it appears blurry or out of focus, but as it reaches the surface it becomes clearer.  The identity is resolved.   The image illuminates the right side of my face to represent the part of the brain known as the creative side that is leading the way to that resolution.
